Nothing is more endearing than a party theme that makes people laugh—or even roll their eyes. Pun-themed parties are an entertaining way to make your child’s birthday party special, one-of-a-kind, and completely unforgettable. For children ages one to five, we came up with five pun-filled party themes.

One in a Melon

Use a “One in a Melon” motif to commemorate your cutie’s first orbit around the sun. Fresh watermelon, pink and green décor, and lots of adorable accents are what we have in mind. Arrange wicker baskets and checkered tablecloths on picnic-style tables. Serve watermelon cupcakes, a watermelon-shaped smash cake, fruit skewers, and “melon-ade” to drink! Your birthday baby is undoubtedly one in a million, and this theme is a charming variation on that!

Two Legit to Quit

Now that your birthday child is officially “Two Legit to Quit,” break out the neon and boom boxes! This theme features vibrant colors, a huge attitude, and the joy of 90s hip-hop. Make a backdrop for children and adults that includes inflatable guitars and microphones, cassette tapes, and graffiti lettering. Decorate a station with DIY tattoos, bucket hats, and gold chains. Play the old-school music (parents will adore it!) and use musical chairs or a dance party to keep the kids active.

Three Bee

A “Three Bee” birthday celebration is the sweetest thing there is! This theme is charming and ideal for garden parties or springtime gatherings. Use honeycomb patterns, daisies, and black and yellow accents to decorate. Create bee-themed cupcakes and use honey sticks or small honey jars to decorate the table. Make a backdrop that reads, “Turning Three is Sweet as Honey,” and embellish it with plush bees and flowers. Your visitors will be talking about this adorable theme nonstop.

Four-Ever Fishin

A “Four-Ever Fishin'” motif is perfect for your young explorer! Use fish nets, bobbers, and fishing poles to adorn the party area. Make a candy and snack bar for the kids to stuff their boxes with after the celebration, and set up a build-your-own tacklebox table for a fun activity. Activity ideas include attaching magnets to the fishing poles and letting the children capture fish from the pond, or setting up little fish bowls and having them toss ping-pong balls inside to win a prize. It’s sure to be a reel-y good time!

High Five-a-Saur

Have a “High Five-a-Saur” party and roar into five! This theme, which combines roaring dinosaurs with high fives and lots of energy, is ideal for your inquisitive, active five-year-old. Encourage all of the children to enter the main party area dressed like their favorite dinosaur by creating a path of dinosaur prints. Create dinosaur egg cake pops and fossil-shaped biscuits to sate everyone’s sweet taste. Provide the children with a sandbox filled with hidden fossils so they can extract their own rewards to take home. Your child will be talking nonstop about how much fun their party was!
